What advice do you have for new transfer students?

My best advice that I could give to new transfer students is don’t fall behind in your readings or assignments. Dedicate yourself to your studies but at the same time enjoy the beautiful surroundings of UCSB.

What's a tip you have for organizing your class schedule?

One good idea is to allow yourself time in-between classes to absorb the material from lecture and write down any thoughts that might come to mind as you organize your notes. Good note taking is a plus and will save you a lot of time preparing for finals.

How do you get to and from school and around the city?

I ride my bike everywhere it saves me a ton of money in parking fees. When I do go to the city, I throw my bike on my bike rack find free parking and explore Santa Barbara on my bike. You can also take your bike on the public bus.

What types of housing options are available to transfer students?

You have options for housing this all depends on what you are looking for and what is your financial situation.

You can go with student housing and share the cost with a roommate. You can also venture out on your own a do a private rental in IV or the city of Goleta or even in Santa Barbara. I am eligible for family housing because I have dependents. The cost for a two bedroom is $1400/month which is good considering what rent would be for a rental in the Goleta or Santa Barbara. I love living close to campus, it’s just a bike ride away or a short walk. A public bus is also an option you can get a bus pass for free.
